Our Pump Pen is ideal for encouraging the flow of ink or paint. This is especially useful when you want to:
Ink in large areas, such as backgrounds and back drops
Force more ink or paint for a surge when you want to draw more quickly, flex back nibs or work with quill nibs where the ink flows through the nib tube
Work with thicker inks and paints that don't flow easily
Kick start the flow for a new nib
With or without overfeed?
Note: The overfeed version for this Pump Pen is not currently available until February 1, 2021.
You can order this pen with or without an overfeed. The version without the overfeed is shipped unless you select the version with an overfeed.
The overfeed extends the width and range of lines you can draw. It rests above the nib, stores more ink between the nib and overfeed, controls the spread of the two tynes, and lets you draw wider lines for a longer time. Read moreabout our overfeeds.
You can remove the overfeed if you don't want to use it, but you must replace the overfeed with aspacer. You can slip overfeeds and spacers in and out of the pen.
About the reservoir
You can double the volume of ink or paint stored in the pen by removing the reservoir and filling the body. The reservoir provides a double wall of guaranteed protection, which might be what you want, but it does reduce your carrying capacity.
Select your feed flow rate
You can change the ink flow rate in your pen. We provide the standard ink feed with this pen, which works with most popular drawing inks and paints, including Golden Hi-Flow Acrylic. You can order the rich flow feed, which is designed to work with exceptionally thick inks and paints, however, we recommend you use the standard flow starting out.
Other nibs you can use
Brause Rose, most other Brause nibs, our Sketch nibs as well as many Osmiroid nibs and Hunt 22B, 56, and 101
