Gillott 303 Pump Pen

If you enjoy drawing with a Gillott 303 nib, this is the pen for you.

  • Contains one Gillott 303 nib and matching feed
  • Replace the nib easily - pull out the old and insert the new
  • Use any ink or paint, even India ink and acrylic paint
  • Press the pump for a stronger flow
  • Keep an eye on your remaining volume
  • Nib seal protects against leakage

Artists enjoy the Gillott 303 nib because it is flexible and provides a wide range of line widths. The Gillott 303 nib has been in continuous use by artists for almost 200 years.

The Gillott 303 nib is especially suited for our Pump Pen. The fit and finish of Gillott 303 nibs is not very good, so it is difficult to get a good match of nib to feed, especially in a pen where you replace the nib by sliding it in and out. In this situation, pressing the pump helps keep the flow running even with an imperfect nib.

Be sure to read Preparing dip nibs for use in our pens if you are unfamiliar with Gillott nibs. The quality of these nibs varies widely.

You can add five Gillott 303 nibs to your order.

Things to keep in mind

  • Gillott 303 nibs vary in quality. Some have tucked in edges, which make them difficult to seat properly on feeds. Check your 303 nibs carefully before using them in fountain pens
  • Gillott 303 nibs are made from spring steel, which rusts easily. Try to keep your 303 nibs dry and clean. Leaving them in a fountain pen encourages rust.

Using other nibs in this pen

You can use the Gillott 404 nib in this pen, which is identical in shape and size to the Gillott 303 only stiffer, since it is meant for writing and not drawing.
