Cleaning your pen

Our pens are easy to clean. Just open them up, flush them out, and put them back together.

If you have used permanent media, such as India ink and acrylic paint, and that has dried out inside the pen and plugged it up, you need to do a little more work. No need to worry. Nothing will stick in the pen permanently.

1. Remove the nib and feed from the front of the pen or the adaptor and clean.

2. Remove the back cap and reservoir and clean.

3. Flush water through the pen. If it runs out the other end freely, you've done your work and the pen is clean.

If water does not run freely, you have more work to do.

5. Hold the pen up to a light so you can see through it. If you can see through the pen, try to discern if there is a partial obstruction that’s blocking the water. If there is, try to flush it out with more water.

6. If that doesn't work, stick a thin rod (no larger than 1/8") into the back of the pen until you feel the obstruction, then wiggle the rod until you free the obstruction. Poke out the obstruction or flush it out with water.

7. If the obstruction remains, push a little harder.

8. If you can't see through the pen and you can't stick a thin rod through it, soak the open Pump Pen in warm, soapy water overnight. If this doesn't work, try a stronger solution, such as household cleaning liquid. 409 brand is good, but there are other similar cleaning liquids.
