Music nibs were originally stiff nibs designed to let you draw broad lines in the vertical direction and narrow lines in the horizontal direction so you could write musical notation in the western form with notes, staves and clefs. A musician playing from sheet music has to recognize the precise shape and position of many symbols, and the best way to distinguish the symbols is by line width. The Mitchell Music Nib is an especially flexible nib you can use to draw a wide variety of line widths in every direction.
We support this nib with a custom feed designed specifically for the nib's unique shape. This is a large nib, so the front of our Classic Fountain Pen was expanded to hold the nib and feed.
