Using squeeze feeds
Squeeze feeds are designed to hold nibs firmly inside our Classic pens, feed sufficient ink to the nib, and feed air back into the reservoir to replace the missing ink.
Note: We’re starting with squeeze feeds for our Classic Manga G pens, but we will soon cover more popular flexible pointed nibs including Brause Rose and Hunt drawing nibs as well as classic dip nibs with a unique surface geometry, such as the Brause Blue Pumpkin and Speedball Lettering nibs.
Inserting squeeze feeds
| Squeeze feeds are small items that require careful handling. | ![]() |
| You begin by inserting a nib designed for the squeeze feed into the feed. | ![]() |
| Next press the nib and feed into the front of the pen and all the way back so the feed sits firmly in the pen.You might have to twist and wiggle the feed to seat it correctly. Look into the back of the section to make sure the tit is flush inside. | ![]() |
Once the nib and feed are inserted correctly, you can start drawing and writing.
Removing squeeze feeds
You must remove the squeeze feed to replace nibs, remove nibs for cleaning, and when you clean the pen. Try not to handle squeeze feeds frequently.
- Pull out the squeeze feed containing a nib from the front of the pen. You might have to spin or twist the feed to dislodge dried ink. Be careful when you do this - squeeze feeds containing nibs are small parts with sharp edges.
- If the feed seems locked into the pen, push it out from the back. Unscrew the front of the pen, place a firm narrow rod on the back of the squeeze feed.
- Gently tap the rod to push out the feed. Increase the pressure of your tapping if you have to. We pack one stick with every order that contains a squeeze feed. You can use other rods if they fit. Soft wood material is best.
