About our Adaptors

Adaptors let you use smaller nibs in our Classic pens. We provide the following three adaptors:

Assembling and disassembling adaptors

All three adaptors contain a nib and feed matched to the nib. To assemble an adaptor, insert the nib into the front of the feed. Next insert the feed into the nib. Make sure the feed is positioned appropriately for the nib. The tip of the feed should be under the tip of the nib.

The Crowquill and Hawk Quill adaptors use very thin feed, so be careful when handling the feed. There are two types of feeds you can use for these nibs - a plastic feed and a spring feed. The question of which feed to use depends on which feed works for you. We provide one type of each feed with every pen we ship that contains a Crowquill or Hawk Quill adaptor.

You can order more feeds, nibs and adaptors.

Inserting and removing adaptors

You insert adaptor in the pen by pressing the adaptor into the front of the pen. Make sure you feel the adaptor seat inside the pen. You can leave the adaptor in the pen as long as you want to use the nib. We suggest you remove and clean adaptors from time to time.

To remove the adaptor from the pen, grab the front of the adaptor and pull it out. If the adaptor is stuck in the pen, unscrew the front of the pen and use a stick or similar object to press the adaptor out of the pen. We recommend chop sticks, which are usually the perfect size, strong enough to work, and soft enough not to scratch the plastic.

Cleaning adaptors

To clean an adaptor, remove the adaptor from the pen, then remove the nib and feed. Run water over the parts. Clean the parts using a cloth or brush, then wipe dry. You might have to scrub the parts to remove dried ink.
