Each type of feed is sold in bags of five feeds.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe ship each Hawk quill pen using the newer short feed. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou can order the previous version, which is longer. We shortened the length so the feed doesn't constrain the flow of ink through the stem of the Hawk quill. The longer feed is easier to position correctly in the nib. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSpring feeds are designed to work with thicker inks and paints. They bridge the gap between the stem of the nib and the tip. Some people call these \"ink cage reservoirs\". Spring feeds have been used for a long time.
