This pen . . .

  • Contains one Hunt nib of your choice
  • Matching feed
  • Replace the nib when it wears down or plugs up - slip out the old and stick in the new
  • Use any ink or paint, even India ink or acrylic paint
  • Select your feed flow rate below
  • Large capacity cartridge - draw all day and don't worry about running out
  • Press the pump when you want a stronger flow
  • Use other nibs described below
  • Screw-on cap and body to prevent leakage

Hunt produces a lot of different nibs, but three stand out for as popular drawing nibs - the 22B, 56 and 101. They are all versions of the Principality nib, which is an old nib famous for its exquisite drawing capability.

Our Pump Pen is ideal for encouraging the flow of ink or paint. This is especially useful when you want to:

  • Work with thicker inks and paints that don't flow easily
  • Ink in large areas, such as backgrounds and back drops
  • Force more ink or paint for a surge when you want to draw more quickly, flex back nibs or work with quill nibs where the ink flows through the nib tube
  • Kick start the flow for a new nib

You can order additional Hunt nibs.

About the reservoir

You can double the volume of ink or paint stored in the pen by removing the reservoir and filling the body. The reservoir provides a double wall of guaranteed protection, which might be what you want, but it does reduce your carrying capacity.

Feed flow rate

This pen ships with the standard feed flow, which works with most popular drawing inks and paints. You can order the rich flow feed, which is designed for especially thick inks and paints, such as traditional India ink and acrylic paint. We suggest you try the standard flow feed first, and if that doesn't work, step up to the rich flow feed.

Use other nibs

  • Zebra Manga G, Brause Rose, our Sketch nibs, most Brause nibs, and many Osmiroid nibs
  • Slip in our Nikko/Tachikawa feed to use those nibs
  • Insert our adaptors to draw with smaller nibs, including the crowquill, Gillott 303, and Principal

Brush Attachment

You can attach our Brush Attachment Tool to the back of this pen and use it to wash your drawing or add one shade of watercolor.
